Luang Prabang
Luang Prabang ist eine angenehme Stadt am Mekong mit traditionellen Gebäuden im Laos-Stil (Unesco-Erbe). Es bestehen Bootsverbindungen nach Chiang Mai, Thailand.
Vientiane
Vientiane ist die Hauptstadt von Laos, die bevölkerungsreichste Stadt und Sitz der Regierung, des Präsidenten und einiger Tempel. Es ist sehr entspannend hier, sicherlich für eine Hauptstadt. Nirgendwo Staus oder Aufstellungen.
Vang Vieng
Früher war Vang Vieng die Stadt, in die viele Westler (vor allem Jugendliche) zum Feiern kamen, aber nach ein paar tödlichen Unfällen gibt es die „schlechten“ Partys nicht mehr. Es gibt immer noch viele Restaurants und Touristengeschäfte... Der Fluss lädt immer noch sehr zum Kanufahren ein und es ist schön, einen Roller zu mieten und die Gegend zu erkunden. Etwas Besonderes ist hier das Ballonfahren.
