Dunhuang ist eine alte Stadt am westlichen Ende der Chinesischen Mauer. Es war Teil einer alten Ost-West-Handelsroute. Es ist immer noch sehr wichtig für Buddhisten wegen der alten Höhlen mit religiösen Inschriften.
